2048. John YELLAND

The IGI and the Parish Records show John Yolland christened 23 Sep 1640, son of William and Willmot. There is no record of William and Willmot's marriage in the IGI, but on LDS Film # 0917531, Marriages, Page 136, there is a marriage of William and Willmot Stuer 5 Apr 1624. It is uncertain why there is such a delay between their marriage in 1624 and the birth of John in 1640, the first child's record.

John's sister, Agnes, christened 8 May 1642 is not in the IGI, but is on Page 109 in the Parish Records she is shown and her parents are William and Willmot.


2049. Margery (Margaret)

On Film # 0917531, there is an entry of "Affidavits of Burial in Woollen" on P. 478 for Margery Yelland sworn on 4 Feb 1735 by Mary Windford. On the same film, there an entry of burial of Margery Yelland dated 2 Feb 1735.


2944. Thomas FAIRCHILD

The coat-of-arms of Fairchild indicate that family members were in the Crusades from 1096-1400. Thomas Fairchild was among the first settlers of Stratford, CT back in 1638 or 1639. He was a merchant, trading principally with Indians. On the list of 1651 he had 6 rods and 9 feet of land and at his death on December 14th, 1670, his inventory was 350 pounds. He was head of the draft board for the Narragansett Campaign in 1654. He was also 'Deputy' in 1654 and in 1664 he was appointed Justice of the Peace and re-appointed afterwards.


3200. Francis PURDY

Francis is considered the first generation of Purdys in NS in Clayton C. Purdy's book.

Some say he was born in 1616 and he came from Yorkshire, England; there is no proof.

He immigrated from England to Concord, Massachusetts abt 1633, later moving, about 1635, to Fairfield, Connecticut. His descendents lived mainly in Westchester Co., NY until 1783.

His will was proved 14 Oct 1658 at Fairfield, CT (Fairfield, CT Records Probate, Vol 1).

She was married at St Mary at the Elms Parish Church.
