24. John YELLAND

John was christened in South Tawton, but moved to Halwill where he married Elizabeth in 1755. John appears to be the first of the Yelland family to move from South Tawton. Prior to John, the Yelland family appears to live in South Tawton, about 16 miles from Halwill.

Halwill: Population 230
Archdeaconry of Totnes
Diocese of Exeter

John Yelland, christened 18 Mar 1734 in South Tawton in the IGI and in the Parish Records, and his siblings, Prudence and Elizabeth, father, John, no mother listed; is in the same batch number as John Yelland and Rebecca Mallard's marriage, 17 Feb 1728, in South Tawton, Devon (C52351 and M52351), John Yelland and Rebecca Mallard's marriage is also in the Parish Records 17 Sept 1728; therefore, I am quite confident that John and Rebecca are his parents.

There is a John Yelland who died in Halwill 30 Jan 1806.
