411. Myrna Ann Yelland

Obituaries (12/06/03) HANDEL _ Myrna Anne (nee Yelland) passed away on December 1, 2003 following a stroke. She was born in Vancouver on May 3, 1931, the youngest of seven children. Myrna will be lovingly remembered by her husband Bob; children, Brant (Trudy), Debbie (Doug Bolton), Kent (Sherrie), Leah and Todd; brothers, Norm, Ken, and sister Jean Moore. Beloved grandmother to Sean, Chris, Matt, Carly, Shannon, Raquel, Scott, Cole, and Marley. Myrna attended North Vancouver High during the 1940's. She married Bob Handel in Toronto in 1949, and lived there and in Victoria for several years before returning to North Vancouver in 1963. She always had a great love for music and performed in several light-operas in her youth. As owner/operator of Calico Candies for many years, she was well known as the "Candy Lady". A memorial service will be held at St. Martin's Anglican Church, 195 East Windsor Rd. in North Vancouver on December 9 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC or a charity of your choice is suggested. A reception follows at the church hall. Vancouver Sun / The Province, Area Code 604

Myrna was not buried, her wish was to be cremated and that the ashes be spread at her favourite spot, the beach off of our property at Kye Bay, which is near the Comox, Vancouver Island Airport.


418. John (Jack) Yelland

Jack was the twin Brother of Bob Yelland.

Friends will be received at the Nicholls Funeral Home, 330 Midland Avenue, Midland on Monday, January 23rd from 7-9 p.m. and at St. Paul's United Church, 308 King Street, Midland on Tuesday, January 24th from 1 p.m. until time of Memorial Service at 2 p.m. Cremation has taken place. Robert Armstrong

Lived at RR# 10, Peterborough, Ont.

ARMSTRONG, Robert Eugene (Bob) - at PRHC Rogers Street Site Palliative Care Unit on Wednesday, November 14, 2007 in his 82nd year. Bob was a WWII Veteran (R.C.N.V.R.), life member of the Peterborough Naval Association and the Peterborough Canadian Legion Branch 52. He was a conscientious employee of Kelly's Peterborough Fuel & Transfer where he retired in 1988. He enjoyed many happy years with family and friends at their cottage on Gold Lake. He is survived by his wife Eleanor (Yelland) and sons Bruce and Scott (Barbara) and fondly remembered by grandchildren Derek, Shane, Lindsay, Zachary, Stephanie and Christina. Survived by siblings Andree (Rees) Powell, Edward (Myrtle) Armstrong, Donald (Helen) Armstrong and Jerry (Kitty) Armstrong. Predeceased by parents Marguerite and Edward Armstrong, brother Emile (Wren) and sister Eunice Weir (Clarence). Cremation has already taken place. Naval and memorial service will be held on Monday, November 19, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Mark Street United Church, with Reverend Dr. Bob Root officiating. Donations may be made to Mark Street United Church, Peterborough Naval Association or the charity of your choice and can be made through LITTLE LAKE CEMETERY at 745-6984.
